Ingredients

  • 400 grams baking soda
  • 200 grams citric acid
  • 200 grams Epsom salts
  • 200 grams cornstarch
  • 45 ml fractionated coconut oil or liquid oil of choice
  • 20 drops (optional) essential oil 5 -10drops colouring Spray bottle of distilled water. Botanicals - optional e.g. camomile, calendula, lavender petals etc.

Method

  1. Mix together dry ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Add oil and mix thoroughly (guickly to avoid the citric acid and bicarbonate fizzing too much).
  3. Add essential oil and mix thoroughly.
  4. Add colour and mix thoroughly.
  5. Spray the surface with about two squirts of distilled water and mix quickly and thoroughly. Repeat until the mixture sticks or clumps together. NOT TOO WET!
  6. Add optional botanicals and blend in well.
  7. Press firmly into moulds. Or for balls, press gently into the two halves then drop a small mound of extra mix onto one side and squeeze the two halves together.
  8. Wipe around the rim to remove excess mixture and gently remove one half.
  9. Place onto a clean dry surface and remove the other half of the mould.
  10. Leave to dry for between 2 - 24 hours depending on the temperature and humidity.
  11. Package in well sealed bags.
  12. Enjoy!
